The Fair Association recognizes and offers premiums on the following Dairy Breeds:
Milking Shorthorn Brown Swiss Guernsey
Ayrshire Jersey Holstein

Youth and Open Dairy Cattle will be shown concurrently with Youth remaining for premiums, Friday, August 24th at 10:00 A.M.

  1. Jr. Heifer calf - March 1, or over 4 months.
  2. Intermediate heifer calf - Dec. 1, 2006 to March 1, 2007.
  3. Sr. Heifer calf - Sept. 1. 2005 to Nov. 30, 2006.
  4. Jr. Yearling heifer March 1, 2006 to August 31, 2006.
  5. Sr. Yearling heifer Sept. 1, 2005 to Feb. 29, 2006.
  6. Jr. Champion Female - winner of Classes 1-5 (ribbon).
  7. Jr. Get of sire - 3 animals under 2 years old, not over 1 bull.
  8. Two year old cow - Sept, 1, 2004 to August 31, 2005.
  9. Three year old cow - Sept. 1, 2003 to August 31, 2004.
  10. Four year old cow - Sept. 1, 2002 to August 31, 2003.
  11. Aged cow - Born before Sept. 2001.
  12. Dry cow - must have freshened at least once.
  13. Sr. Champion - winners of classes 8 to 12 (Ribbon).
  14. Best of three females - any who have been bred and owned by exhibitor, limited to one entry.
  15. Get of Sire - three females over 2 years of age - the get of one sire. Must be owned by exhibitor. Limited to two entries.
  16. Produce of Dam - two females, any age, the produce of one cow.
  17. Grand Champion Female - Trophy and Ribbon.

Herdsmans Award and Trophy Sponsored by Penquis Surge, Inc. Special Awards: Elwin Dow Trophy, Lewis Roberts Trophy, William Shaw Trophy, Doran Nuite Trophy.

The milking parlor is paying $12 per 100 lbs of milk to each of the highest producing cow of each breed milked in the parlor during the fair. A trophy will be presented to each winner. There will be a $25 calf premium for calves born at the fair.

All livestock trailers must be parked in back parking lot.


EXTRA LIVESTOCK ACTIVITIES
Animal Costume Parade: Time to dress up your critter and join in the parade!! All livestock welcome to participate. Categories are: funniest, prettiest, largest critter, smallest critter, best clown, best Christmas outfit, best hobo, best beach outfit, best coordinated outfit of handler and critter, best in parade. Ribbons will be awarded and a trophy given for Best In Parade. Parade will begin in front of the milk parlor.
Obstacle course: Can you get yourself and your critter through an obstacle course faster than anyone else?? The livestock Obstacle Course will be held on Saturday in the lovestock showring. Listen for the announcement of time. Everyone welcome to participate. Trophy awarded to fastest time.
