The Youth Dairy Goat show will be held on Sunday, August 26th at 10:00 AM. Animals must be in place at the Fairgrounds by 10:00 AM on Saturday, Aug. 25th, and are required to remain until Sunday, Aug. 26th at 3:00 PM. Entries will be checked on Saturday. The Youth show is open to all youths ages 5 to 19. Goats do not have to be registered; however animals will be checked by the Show Chairperson before being unloaded at the Fairgrounds. Animals must be in good health and free from disease.

Entries should be sent to: Sally Peniuk; 464 Starks Rd. New Sharon, Maine 04955, and must be received by no later than August 14th. Animals DO NOT have to be ADGA registered to be eligible for the Youth show. Breeds to be shown are: Alpine; Boer, LaMancha, Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian, Pygmy, Oberhasli, Saanen/Sable, Toggenburg and Recorded Grade. NO BUCKS. Junior Does, Senior Does and Wethers are eligible. Base date for age computation is August 26th, 2007. There are no entry fees required for the Youth Goat Show. The Youth Dairy Goat Show is sponsored by Piscataquis Valley Fair.

Exhibitors MUST provide their grain & hay for feed, hay racks, feed dishes and water buckets. A herdsman award will be given to the exhibitor demonstrating; cleanliness of pen area; co-operation with show person, fair officials and other exhibitors; general attitude. Exhibitors are requested to wear white in the show ring.

CLASSES: SHOWING & FITTING

  • PeeWee: Ages 5 & 6 (Must have assistant in ring when showing)
  • Junior: Ages 7-10
  • Intermediate: Ages 11-14
  • Senior: Ages 15-18
  • Novice: Any first time exhibitor (showing for the first time this year)
BEST SHOW PERSON SHOW ORDER: Wethers, Senior Does Dry, Junior Does, Senior Does in Milk.

WETHERS: Breeds of Wethers will be shown at the same time according to age of goat.
(1.) Wethers ages 0 to 12 months of age
(2.) Wethers 2 & 3 years of age
(3.) Wethers 4 years of age and up

BREED SHOW ORDER: Alpine; Boer, LaMancha, Nigerian Dwarf, Nubian, Pygmy, Oberhasli, Saanen/Sable, Toggenburg, Recorded Grade.

SPECIALTY CLASSES: Specialty classes will encompass all breeds as once in each class. The Herd may consist of all breeds owned by the exhibitor. Entries limited to ONE ENTRY per class. Adults may help if neccessary.

Premiums: $8 - $7 - $6 - $5 - $4 - $3 (regular classes)

$10 - $9 - $8 - $7 - $6 - $5 (Specialty Classes)

*No more than 2 premiums per class wil be paid to any one exhibitor

All Live Stock trailers must be parked in back parking lot.

EXTRA LIVESTOCK ACTIVITIES
Animal Costume Parade: Time to dress up your critter and join in the parade!! All livestock welcome to participate. Categories are: funniest, prettiest, largest critter, smallest critter, best clown, best Christmas outfit, best hobo, best beach outfit, best coordinated outfit of handler and critter, best in parade. Ribbons will be awarded and a trophy given for Best In Parade. Parade will begin in front of the milk parlor.
Obstacle course: Can you get yourself and your critter through an obstacle course faster than anyone else?? The livestock Obstacle Course will be held on Saturday in the lovestock showring. Listen for the announcement of time. Everyone welcome to participate. Trophy awarded to fastest time.
