Youth Goat Show

The Youth Goat Show will be held on Sunday, August 28th at 10 a.m. Animals must be in place at the Fairgrounds by 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 27th, and are required to remain until Sunday, August 28th at 3 p.m. Entries will be checked on Saturday. Animals may arrive earlier then the 27th, but the owner /breeder must be present to care for them unless arrangements are made with the show chairperson.

The Youth show is open to all persons ages 5 - 19. Goats do not have to be registered, however, animals will be checked by the show chairperson before being unloaded at the fairgrounds. Animals must be in good health and free from disease and sores.

Entries should be sent to Sally Punik, and must be received by no later than August 10th. All exhibitors are required to participate in the showing and fitting classes. Entries should include: Name and address of breeder; phone number and/or email address; animal’s name; class number: animal’s age; animal’s breed.

Breeds to be shown are: Alpine, Nigerian Dwarf, Recorded Grade, and all other breeds (including: boer, pigmy, lamancha, Nubian, oberhasli, saanen/sable, toggenburg). Junior does, Senior does, and wethers are eligible. No bucks allowed. Base date for age computation is August 28th, 2011. There are no entry fees. Participate in the special activities listed at the end of these rules.

A herdsman award will be given to the exhibitor demonstrating: cleanliness of pen and pen area and overall cooperation.

Exhibitors are encouraged to wear white in the show ring. Classes:

Showing and fitting: (will be judged together)
Senior: ages 15, 16, & 17
Intermediate: ages 11, 12, 13, 14
Junior: ages 7, 8, 9, 10
Pee Wee: ages 5, 6
Novice: first time showing (any age)
Best show person

Show Order: Wethers, Senior Dry Does, Junior Does, Senior Does in milk

Wethers: Breeds of wethers will be shown at the same time according to age of goat.

Classes:

1. Wethers age 0-12 months
2. Wethers 2 & 3 yrs of age
3. Wethers 4 yrs of age and older
Best Wether in Show

Breed show order: Recorded Grade, Nigerian Dwarf, AOB, Alpine
Senior Dry Does (does not in milk ages 2 and up):

4. Does 2 & 3 yrs of age
5. Does 4 yrs of age and up
Best Dry Senior Does in Show

Junior Does:

6. Kids 0-6 months of age.
7. Kids 7-12 months of age.
8. Dry yearlings 12-24 months of age (never fresh)

Senior Does (in milk):

9. Milkers under 2 yrs of age.
10. Milkers 2 & 3 yrs of age
11. Milkers 4 yrs of age and up

Specialty Classes

Specialty Classes will encompass all breeds at once in each class. The herd may consist of all breeds owned by the exhibitor. Entries are limited to one entry per exhibitor per class. Adults may help if necessary.

12. Dam and Daughter
13. Dam and Son
14. Produce of Dam (two kids from the same dam)
15. Herd (to consist of three animals owned by the same breeder may mix breeds in the same herd).

Premiums: $8, $7, $6, $5, $4, $3 (Regular classes)
$10, $9, $8, $7, $6, $5 (Specialty Classes)
No more then two premiums per class will be paid to any one exhibitor.

All Live Stock trailers must be parked in back parking lot.
